There is something so magical about having a family come to work with you, year after year. M+C decided on an Oregon Coast maternity session this time around. We have been to so many amazing places together, but this was the first time we’ve ventured to the beach together.
Oregon Coast Sand Dunes
Sand dunes are littered up and down the Oregon Coast. One reason I love choosing sand dunes for photoshoots is because they block out the summer breezes. The Oregon Coast has some unreal summer evenings and sunsets, but they can be very windy. The dunes did their job and helped block that out during their maternity session and kept us fairly warm throughout the photoshoot.
Fun Fact: The grass blades in the dunes are quite sharp and pokey.
Sunset Maternity Session on the Oregon Coast
I love me some location variety. After having so many photos done in one setting, it can be a lot of fun to switch it up in a new spot. We made our way out of the dunes and trudged onto the beach. It was cold as heck, but these two are troopers. Their kiddo decided to stay in the warm dunes with grandma and grandpa. I put a lot of effort into creating a space where children feel safe, welcomed and are able to step out of the photos when they need a moment. He typically comes and goes as he pleases and we always have amazing photos that come out of our sessions in the end.
